Summary
Gerard Way does not fear death.
He does not believe there is an afterlife, a God, heaven or hell, reincarnation, hades, nirvana, or any of those hopeful fantasies that people create to make the end seem like less of a great, looming black hole of finality. He knows there is nothing more, that this is all he will get, that one day- sooner or later- his life will cease, like a candle blown out, a sudden fall into nothingness. Forever.
aka: Gerard has one year left of school, hes recovering from the turmoil of conflicting emotions the death of his beloved grandmother and witnessing perhaps the most horrific event of the decade have left him with. He’s hoping he can just make it through the year. However when he meets the new transfer student, his life may be changed irreversibly...
And what’s with the strangely ominous reoccurring dream that haunts him?

aka my friends asked me to write a fic about our original character and of course I deliver.

Frankie kept telling himself this wasn’t the worst life a person could have.
It helped if he listed things. He did that a lot, in his head, like he was tuning something. Okay: he wasn’t starving. His stomach grumbled sometimes, sure, but he always found a way to get a bowl of noodles or some other cheap shit from the stand three blocks from the station, or could heat a can in the workshop when the boss had already gone home. He had a stable job, which was way more than some of the guys he saw drifting through the outskirts, hollow-eyed and jittery, looking like they might sell a kidney for a clean glass of water. He had a roof over his head, technically.
So, you know. Not the worst.
It just also kind of sucked.

If Mikey had grown up next to anyone but his brother, who had FAGGOT emblazoned on his neck starting at age nine, his soulmarks would have been the talk of Belleville, New Jersey.
Instead, it was Gerard who got the endless attention of schoolyard bullies and concerned, overbearing parents. Of course, Gerard himself didn’t do anything to help matters, because Mikey’s older sibling had decided from an early age to be as much of a nuisance to normal society as possible. Which was a confusing but ultimately just fine thing to Mikey, who preferred to stay as quiet and un-noticeable as possible. Being nothing and nobody is easy for him: he blocks the rest of the world through thick, perpetually smudged glasses and folds his gangly limbs in tight on miserable school bus rides.
(In Chicago, Pete Wentz has had the words nothing and nobody cut into his ribs for as long as he can remember. He worries for his soulmate, because that’s the kind of person he is.)
