Alex Rider is a variation on the average teenager. He worries about his A-Levels, about his friends, and whether or not he'll pass his next exam.
The way his uncle guards his seemingly inane work, the boring ledgers and random documents in his office, the secrecy to his every task, could be a variation on the average office worker, could be a result of his preference for privacy.
The man Alex keeps spotting in the corner of his eye, off the reflection of shop windows and freshly waxed cars, has no rational explanation.

Alex is tied up, one article of clothing away from being stark naked, and he's pretty sure whoever knocked him out hit hard enough to knock a few more screws loose.
Yassen Gregorovich, a very, very dead man, stands at the foot of whoever's bed this is, and if he was fourteen, his mind would already be playing raunchy come hither music, but he's not- fourteen that is. It's debatable whether or not he's mentally nodding along to a porno soundtrack.
