Summary
After the sun sets on a journey spanning several years, Mike Wheeler and Will Byers take a long drive back home to Hawkins together after El leaves town for good. Will desperately wants to confess his love to Mike, worried that they’ll part ways soon, losing the opportunity.
It’s not a short ride, and the boys are faced with the reality that there is still a lot left unsaid between them.

Summary
He’s back at the quarry. El never saved him. He continues falling, hearing Will’s voice in his head as he falls. He says, “And us? We’ll never be friends. Not until you see what’s in front of you. See the truth of what you are...You’re a coward, Mike.” Mike is about to hit the water...
...when he jolts awake. He is breathing heavily, and his heart races as he takes in his surroundings. He is in the storage closet, on the uncomfortable cot, feeling claustrophobic in his sleeping bag. He sits upwards and tries to regulate his breathing. It was a dream. It wasn’t real. Mike is used to nightmares at this point. He’s had them ever since the day Will went missing, and he has felt uneasy ever since Lucas pointed out that it’s that time of year again.

Summary
In a world full of mind-possessing creatures and alternate dimensions, the fact that it’s nature that finally gets them is, if nothing else, ironic. Mike and Will are the one constant in a world where nothing ever stays the same. Maybe that’s why the universe never did manage to pull them apart.
Until, of course, the earthquake did.
Alternatively, Mike and Will are trapped at the Palace Arcade after an earthquake strikes Hawkins. They indulge in their last chance to make things right.

Dustin hums in agreement while he swallows his bite. “It’s like, against his factory settings to say no to you. What do you need him to do, model for you or something?”
Will shoves his face back into his hands. “I’m going to fail.”
Max rolls her eyes. “You’re not going to fail, you’re going to paint Mike.”
Will lifts his head up from his hands, eyes wide, and shakes his head. “You don’t understand.” He pleads with his awful, awful friends, voice low. “He’s been, he’s using my-he came out of my bathroom in just a towel last night.”

Summary
Pushed into attending the University of Hartford by his best friend Rory and his uncle Luke, Jess is less than motivated to go - even less so when his uncle 'kicks' him out and arranges for him to stay at the dormitories. Jess, whose cool outsider factors had somewhat helped him make it through high school with an air of mystery, feels himself unmoored in the college situation. It all takes a turn for the worse when his roommate is none other than Dean Forester, Rory's ex boyfriend who has always been suspicious of Jess in the end of his relationship. Jess, obviously innocent in the downfall of their relationship, harbours similar disdain for Dean, though for him, there is a secret element to it, that he can never share, now that they are roommate. This leaves Jess determined to keep space between them - upon learning that his former rival is gay, Dean, however, feels terrible about his suspicion and jealousy, and is determined to turn them into friends.
