    Summary

And the first time he saw her as a daughter.

Ever since unlocking her True Potential, Sora has had to come to terms with the fact that her parents were just awful people. They never loved her, only the family image they gained from having her. That was fine though. It wasn’t like Sora needed parents, even if the idea of having someone be there for you and care for you in that sort of way had always appealed to her. Besides, if her own parents couldn’t give her that, who else could? Why bother hoping for something you’ll never have?

Ever since stopping the Mergequakes, Lloyd has come to realize just how much he cares for his students, and how afraid he is of losing them. All he wants is to protect them and keep them close. However, he knows it can’t last forever. Arin’s parents are still out there somewhere, and Sora… well, she’s independent, and he wouldn’t want to be the one to tie her down. Besides, it’s not as if they see him as anything more than their teacher and friend. Why try and change something that’s not broken?

Sora never asked to be chosen. Lloyd never thought she wanted to be. Turns out family can form even when neither one is aware of it. Funny how love works like that.

MY BESTIE WROTE THIS MASTERPIECE! I’m all for Lloyd and Sora’s father/daughter relationship, even if in my mind Lloyd is literally still just a baby.

    Summary

Tim really thought Mr. Wayne’s party was going to be more exciting.

His parents always make such a big deal about going to galas. They take time off work to get ready, dress up all nice in their fancy clothes, and quiz each other on the names and personal details of all the other guests who are coming so that they can do their networking.

(Tim has learned that ‘networking’ means drinking champagne with important people and laughing at all of their jokes, even when they’re not funny.)

Or, in which six-year-old Timothy Drake attends his first gala, tries stuffed mushrooms, gets some first-hand experience with the Heimlich maneuver, and expands his social network, not necessarily in that order.

The frequency with which my sister and I quote this fic is hilarious.

Steve Harrington never planned to be anyone’s hero, but he kept showing up anyway—like it was instinct.
And maybe Will Byers was a little too observant, because he noticed. Every time.

    --or--

5 times Steve took care of Will, and the 1 time Will returned the favor.

    Summary

In a childish, naïve kind of way, Kai had thought getting home would fix it. Would fix him, whatever pieces are left of the person he used to see in the mirror that he managed to drag out of that place.

Looking in the dusty monastery mirror his first night home, still cracked from where Cole had fallen over after laughing too hard at Jay’s terrible haircut, hollow eyes and gaunt skin and a stranger staring back at him—

Maybe, Kai’s forced to realize, it isn’t that easy.

Kai's first week back home, ft. Lloyd's attempts to play older sibling for once.

    Summary

Bruce doesn't miss the way Dick eyes the cigarette apprehensively, or the way his throat bobs as he swallows thickly. Maybe he should stop this. Maybe he shouldn't, as Jason had put it, goad the lad into smoking by calling his bluff. It's bad parenting, right?

But when Dick narrows his eyes, staring down still at the cigarette like an enemy to be conquered, Bruce thinks, 'nah, the boy needs humbling'.

    ---

Or, Bruce walks in on Dick holding a cigarette that they all know to be Jason's. But, when Dick claims it as his own, Bruce calls his bluff.
