Summary
“You should take a few days for yourselves,” Lan Xichen says again. His cheeks are pink now. “You and Wangji.”
“Zewu-jun, I feel very stupid, but I have no idea what you mean. I’m sure it’s only something wrong with my stomach; I’ll be better in a few hours. Lan Zhan can stay here and I’ll be fine on my own.”
Lan Xichen stares at him long enough for Wei Wuxian to see the realization crash into his eyes. “Oh! Oh, Wuxian, you don’t mean this is—is your first—?”
Wei Wuxian blinks at him.
“Wuxian,” Lan Xichen repeats, his voice softening. His cheeks are still pink, but his expression is calm and kind as he explains, “You’re going into heat.”
Very intelligently, Wei Wuxian says, “What.”

Summary
Camp Campbell didn’t teach Max respect, or manners, or—well, anything his parents wanted it to teach him. Instead, it taught him how to ruin a society of children with a handful of candy, how to build a trebuchet capable of launching rocks through David’s head (and how to make those rocks miss). It taught him that maybe, just maybe, some people are worth caring about—and it taught him that those same people are capable of caring about him, too.
Max supposes that’s why he finds himself dialing David’s number in the middle of the night with shaking fingers and a bloody nose.

Summary
Ford has stopped shivering when Stan finally hauls him onto the deck. He’s curled into himself, stiff-jointed and unmoving, and somewhere in the back of Stan’s head there is screaming. He can’t lose Ford again, he can’t, he can’t he can’t he can’t he can’t he won’t—
Ford breathes.

Summary
Stan’s next shout feels more like a scream, desperate and frightened and tearing his throat on the way out: “Ford, please! Come on! Stanford, you can’t do this to me, not again—Stanford!”
Something slams into him, and he hits the deck hard. His first instinct is, naturally, to punch—but he doesn’t get that far. As soon as he tries to scramble back to his feet, a knee wedges itself into his back and two hands seize tightly on his shoulders and press him down. A low, dangerous growl reverberates around him, and he freezes. Shit. Shit.
...are there werewolves this far out on the ocean?
But when he cranes to see over his shoulder, he does not see a werewolf. Instead, he sees—
“Ford?!”

[Luz’s fingers slip underneath his collar, and he freezes.
“We’ll just take this off and have Eda wash it,” Luz says, unbuckling the collar and pulling it away from his neck. “Hey, it has little glyphs on the inside, that’s cool! Is that your name, King?”
But King can’t hear her. King can’t think. King can’t speak. King can’t even breathe through his sudden panic, because she has his collar, and this entire morning just got so much worse.]
Or: Luz learns that there’s more to the King of Demons than meets the eye.

Summary
ford can’t stop thinking about old yeller that night, staring up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on their ceiling. he couldn’t do it, he thinks. he couldn’t ever shoot his own dog, no matter what.
“well,” stanley says pragmatically the next morning, pretending like he doesn’t care as much as ford knows he does, “since he was sufferin’ and all, it was really better for him to be dead, wasn’t it? not much point in being alive if your whole life is terrible and you’re a danger to everybody you ever loved.”
something cold and sharp takes up residence in ford’s stomach. he doesn’t like hearing stanley say stuff like that. he doesn’t like it at all.
“i wouldn’t do it,” ford insists. “no matter what, i wouldn’t. there’s always another way.”
“heh. yeah, i bet you’d find another way, brainiac,” stanley teases, reaching over to muss ford’s hair. ford swats him away. stanley can make fun all he wants—ford still spends all night thinking about cures for rabies.

Summary
sokka doesn’t know when he forgot what his mother’s wings looked like. he knows that the forgetting didn’t happen all at once, that it was slow and quiet and insidious, just like he knows maybe forgetting isn’t the right term, knows being replaced might be more appropriate because when he tries to remember mom’s face all he sees is katara’s, and when he thinks of her wings—
when sokka thinks of his mother’s wings, he sees sleek brown feathers laced through with dull silver. he sees soft white undersides and chalky down. he sees juvenile plumage so very like his own, quiet and unassuming, on two long, sharply angled wings. he sees katara’s wings when he tries to think of his mother’s, and it stings like betrayal.

Summary
Grillby wants nothing more than to celebrate the perfect Valentine's Day with his husband. It's only what Gaster deserves, after all. Unfortunately, things are rarely that simple, especially when he wakes up with old, sour misery aching in his chest. One series of failures later and he's left starkly reminded of how flawed and simple and boring he is in the light of Gaster's glory. Gaster can't take that feeling from him, but he can, at the very least, make it easier to bear.
(And that's exactly what he plans to do, once Grillby stops being so stubborn.)

Summary
Dr. Gaster is the happiest monster on earth. He’s got a fantastic job, a cozy house, food and friends aplenty, and the world’s most loving soulmate—then he's turned into a vampire, which, you know, kind of throws a wrench into his idyllic lifestyle. But he's going to make it work! Even if it means he has to suffer, he's not going to let his newfound needs hurt anyone around him. He's going to deal with this alone, because that's clearly what any mature and independent monster would do.
Leastways, that's the plan until Grillby finds out.

Summary
Gaster is beyond excited to finally visit Grillby’s club. He’s been wanting to for quite some time, but Grillby had always insisted the club was far too dangerous. Now that he’s actually here, Gaster’s starting to think that was just Grillby’s usual overprotectiveness talking. He doesn’t expect to be hurt at all!
…he certainly doesn’t expect that it’s going to be Grillby who hurts him.

Fortunately, Gaster isn’t fighting alone. Grillby’s much too stubborn to let him.
