"Oh, darling," Victor laughs in that perfectly carefree way that signals desperation to hide something. "Numbers are so boring! Makka's only as old as she is at heart, you see, and her heart is... I don't know. A healthy, youthful six?"
"Right," Yuuri deadpans. "How long has she been six?"

"When," Viktor corrects. "I believe the question is, when did they come from?"
Jayce blinks. "I'm sorry," he says, turning his head to find Viktor already looking at him with those ever-curious eyes, "Are you suggesting that we broke time?"
The implication alone makes Jayce's head spin.
Viktor's face scrunches up the way it does when he's debating a probability, his brown pinched and nose twitching like one of their little lab rats as his head tips to one side.
"Eh, 'broke' is a strong word."
-or- Early in their partnership, Jayce and Viktor manage to break time and meet their future selves. Chaos ensues.

Laurent’s voice, issuing curt orders, and his own involuntary reaction: nothing more than force of habit, the instincts he had trained into himself, deliberately, in order to survive.
Nikandros had noticed then, and had let it go with the circumspect silence of a kyroi to his king. That was as it should be, Damen thought. It was not worth discussing. It was not even worth thinking about.
