“Like … you can't go to the bathroom until you finish that,” Eddie says, nodding to the carriage Steve was just working on, “and I can't go until I finish, uh, that cloud in the corner.”

Doing jigsaw puzzles is not high on Eddie's list of entertaining pastimes, but for some reason Steve enjoys it, and maybe Eddie can find a way to make it a bit more interesting.

Steve almost whispers, “We’re, uh… we’re doing this then?”
Eddie swallows, pretends it’s not basically a gulp. He nods, pretends it’s not a little frantic.
“You’re sure?” Steve says, moving closer to Eddie as if to test the waters.
“Yes,” Eddie says.
Steve closes the rest of the distance so they’re sitting with their legs pressed against each other. He tentatively reaches out, taking hold of Eddie’s hand where it rests on his knee, like it’s the easiest way to establish physical contact.
Steve looks up at him, earnest as Eddie’s ever seen him. “You’re totally, completely, and one-hundred percent sure you want to do this?”
Eddie tries and fails not to roll his eyes and groan.
“Like I said, I am sure, so please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do not make me beg you to fuck me,” Eddie says, grateful that his voice isn’t shaking like the rest of his body.
