    Anakin Skywalker had never thought himself a coward before this moment.

    The next day, during the mission debriefing, Ahsoka doesn’t meet his eyes. He tries to catch her afterward, but she shrugs his arm off. He tries again and finds himself thrown back against a pillar.

    He knows he deserves this, but it is all worth it to keep her safe.

    He finds out, scarcely a month later, that she has been reassigned to the 432nd legion, as the new Padawan to General Pong Krell.

    He tries to ignore the pit that forms in his stomach.’

    Or,
