Dennis took a shaky step back, the weight of his past pressing down. Robby’s arm wrapped around him without hesitation.
“Well, rest assured, you don’t need to worry about him. Because I’m here now.”
Caleb, who’d been quiet until then, spat with venom, “And who the fuck are you to decide that?”
Robby pulled Dennis closer, eyes locked on his brothers. “I’m his husband.”

Robby had operated illegally on a patient, with Dennis being the only witness. The hospital pushed Dennis to give Robby up while something darker and more political brewed. “Now Robby, I know you can’t wait for him to be back on your shift so you can oogle him whenever, but he still has another week with me. You’ll get him back, I promise.” He replies with a knowing smirk that grows wider when Robby’s face grows flushed and he sputters indignantly.
“Wh- What do you mean oogle? I don’t oogle. I’m a consummate professional with all my residents and you know that!” Robby bites back, growing more red when Jack barks a laugh and claps him on the shoulder.
“Brother, please. You and I both know that’s a lie. Hell, Collins still works with you, though god knows why she puts herself through that.”
“Besides, you’re not exactly subtle with the way you act around Whitaker. I’m surprised no one else has noticed, or if they have they haven’t mentioned it.”
