“We have to stop meeting like this,” Vi intoned, even as her eyes drank in the other woman. She was paler, thinner than she’d last seen her - her usually cautious eyes were flitting wildly. Vi hadn’t seen her in at least two weeks - maybe more. In hindsight, it was unusual for them to not run into each other for that length of time.
“Are you alone?” Caitlyn asked.
“Not anymore,” Vi replied, raising an eyebrow.
“Who raised you?” Caitlyn snapped out like a whip, her body remaining half in the attic, half out.
“Vander Lanes,” Vi replied, her other eyebrow coming up, “are you feeling okay?”
Caitlyn exhaled tightly, and pushed herself fully into the attic, catching the door with her boot and pulling it closed behind her.
“No,” she said, simply. “I need your help.”
“Then you really aren’t okay.”
