Summary
Last Christmas Abby lost her husband. This Christmas she is determined to find his best friend and marine comrade Marcus Kane who saved Jake's life in Iraq but disappeared from their life right afterwards. Abby tracks the man to the tiny village of Arkadia in pursuit of an explanation. She discovers that Marcus has isolated himself in his small cabin in the middle of a snowy mountain range, chopping wood for a living.
Abby's new mission is to try to draw the sullen, aloof man from his shell while Marcus desperately tries not to fall in love with the stubborn widow pushing her way into his lonely life.
Very loosely based on the romance novel A Virgin River Christmas. Will (hopefully!) be updated every day until the 24th of December.

Summary
Peace has finally been established between all 13 clans. The celebration of the new treaty goes well enough - until Prince Reghan of the Broadleaf clan settles his eyes on Abby. To protect her from the prince's aggressive advances, Marcus proclaims that Abby is his betrothed, despite her being just his friend (and the object of his indefinable feelings). The prince is skeptical - so he decides to test the claim by throwing the pair a grandiose Grounder wedding. Lexa makes it clear that Marcus and Abby cannot refuse; the whole peace is at stake if the prince, known for being easily provoked, finds out he was lied to.
It's up to Marcus and Abby to keep up the facade of a romantic relationship and go through with the wedding. Their mission is definitely going to be awkward, but achievable for the sake of the alliance. However, things turn complicated when they both realize that pretending to be in love is alarmingly easy...

Based on the film When Harry Met Sally, this story follows the overall plot but the words and most of what happens within the scenes are my own creation.
In 2004, a young Abby gives a youthful Marcus a ride from Chicago to Baltimore where both hope to embark on exciting new lives post University. Abby is training to be a doctor, Marcus dreams of being Governor of Baltimore one day. On the ride, he tells Abby that doctors and politicians can never be lovers or friends because they're too different. Abby isn't so sure, but two days spent in a car with the ambitious young man are perhaps enough to convince her.
We follow them over a number of years, visiting them at crucial points in their lives. Will Marcus be proved right - are they too different to ever be together - or does love find a way no matter what?

Abby’s hopes of avoiding an awkward run-in are dashed when she arrives on his doorstep with a trunk full of suitcases and finds neither Marcus, nor his jealous fiancée Diana, at all pleased to see her. Meanwhile, her daughter Clarke’s disappointment at spending Christmas in a hotel increases when she learns that Kane refuses to celebrate it, or even decorate (despite the hundreds of Christmas trees at his disposal). The Griffin women are determined to make Eden Tree Lodge and its grumpy owner merry for the holidays by hook or by crook; as Christmas grows closer, so do Abby and Marcus, as the decades-long estrangement between them slowly crumbles away, forcing them both to unlock doors into their past they would rather leave unopened.
