December 31, 2006 (New Year's Eve): Jacob Black returns to his father's house, content. The past year has brought him more pain and suffering than he ever imagined he could feel, but it's also brought more joy and hope than he ever knew was possible. For the first time in a long while, he's not feeling apprehensive about what tomorrow might bring.
January 1, 2006 (New Year's Day): Jacob wakes up in the same bed he fell asleep in, but everything around him-- including his own body-- is different. And if he isn't very, very careful, the changes he won't be able to help but make will break down the very center of his universe.

"... Because seeing Bella, no matter what the circumstances, was always a good thing. Even as she was then, all hollowed out and pale, like a ghost. She was shockingly thin, with dark bags under her eyes framed by flat, dark hair hanging limply on the sides of her face. Her eyes, which had once shone with delight and flashed with intuition, now stood as two decaying statues of an old, forgotten monument, crumbling against gravity and the wars which left their empire to rot.
Her face lit dimly with a spark of enthusiasm, and the edges of her mouth twitched up in a poor mockery of her old grin.
“Hey, Jacob!” Her smile widened and became more familiar.

I took issue with how smeyer treated my boy, as many of us have, and I took it upon myself to re-write the series from Jacob's POV and fix some of the problems I had. This is basically a head canon of how I would write twilight, were I ever given such a job - which I would like to clarify; nobody asked for this. JacobxBella AU where Jake imprints but it's sorta... different? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
