Daniel was growing bored. He was at the top of his compound, his God constantly rewarding him after every massacre but yet; he wasn't happy. There wasn't that same *rush* of adrenaline there use to be. Every day was the same. He prayed for something new to worship... and he appeared to him in a dream.

“I’m not afraid,” David said, lying.
He was terrified. His heart was beating a hole in his chest and it was the middle of the day. The sun was out- why was he afraid? The crunching leaves that echoed him stopped, and so did David.
“You’re afraid of everything,” Daniel said coldly, “you need me, David. I can make you feel safe. You want me.”
David’s eyes widened, but he didn’t turn around. The breeze through the trees seemed to cease altogether. He shook his head, scrunching his eyebrows together though his legs were frozen in place. He couldn’t move.
"Don't you wanna feel safe, David?"

Daniel had dressed up in David's clothes, had practiced mimicking his voice, and fully devoted himself to playing the role of Camp Clown. The cultist was more than ready to replace the silly little counselor and claim his revenge.

David wasn’t the type to express affection openly in public. Holding hands was fine, a hug, sure- maybe a quick peck on the lips but that was mostly it. Every time Daniel attempted to kiss David longer than a second or sneak a quick grab, the counselor would push him off and blush, smiling to the left and kill him again and again with the same four words;
