It was a statement more than a question, as if Vanitas had to repeat it to believe it.

Nine at night, as per usual, he walks in. He being the man who, without fail, would pop in right before closing time and purchase the most obscene items Noé had ever witnessed. One time, the man plopped something on the conveyor belt Noé didn’t even know the store sold. He rung him up, as usual, and never got the chance to ask - the man left as quickly as he had come. Noé desperately wished to have a name to connect the man with, but every time he got close to asking, the guy had gone.
Or, Noé works at a grocery store and Vanitas buys weird shit every night.

Lately, time feels like it skips without him. Like the world keeps moving while he's trying to catch his breath. He should have been screaming for joy, Langa had done it, he had beaten Joe, one of the best racers in S, but Reki couldn't forget that Langa's next race could end up being against Adam. He couldn't stand by while Langa pushed himself to these unimaginable heights. He couldn't watch while Langa maimed himself trying to compete with people way outside his league. He couldn’t lose another friend.
It was at that moment that Reki realized he couldn't be the supportive friend on the sidelines. There was only one thing he could do.
He left.In the aftermath of Langa's race against Joe, Reki realizes he can't support Langa's dangerous habit. So he decides to leave skateboarding, and Okinawa for good.

Summary
When Langa takes a trip to visit family in Canada, both he and Reki find themselves despairing at the distance. Though neither is apt to admit their true feelings for the other, they miss each other desperately and so start exchanging texts whenever they can. Texts that turn rather scandalous when Reki accidentally sends a nude that he knew he never should have taken in the first place.
Yet, outside their fluctuating relationship, more sinister activities are afoot. Being in Canada has dragged Langa back to the days of the car accident that took his father's life and nearly robbed him of his own. An accident that may not have been an accident at all, if Reki's suspicions prove correct. It's dangerous territory to be investigating, especially if the killer is looking to finish what they started.
