Summary
Even after Danganronpa ends, the fans want more. On the grounds of the Ultimate Academy in which the final killing game was held, a museum to Danganronpa is constructed, showing off the final moments of the franchise and its participants.
Unfortunately, said participants are not as fictional as they seem, and their spirits remain. Trapped within the Academy, they put on one final show.

It’s not as if they don’t know each other or anything. They’re in the same class, after all—even if Rantaro’s attendance is spotty at best due to his travels—and their friend groups do, clearly, overlap. That being said, Rantaro’s never really spent time with Gonta just on his own. He’s heard a few stories about how such things end up, ones about bugs getting in people’s mouths and giant swarms... but their classmates are prone to over-exaggerating. It should be just fine.

Summary
Shuichi Saihara is nothing but thankful that despite his title as Ultimate Detective, during his time at Hope’s Peak there have been no murder mysteries to solve. After all, no amount of death is worth a good case.
Regretfully, this means there is a lack of good cases. It's hard to stifle a detective's instinct, and when something about the Ultimate Entomologist catches his eye, it's hard to shake. It's just a small detail, inconsequential really.
Perhaps he should have known, with that detective instinct, that it's the small details that always feed into something larger.
