Dignity and pride had been the first to go, so many years ago when he had been too young to understand the repercussions, to know how he would go on to live his life keeping his head down with an apology ready on his tongue, never allowing himself to take up any more space than what he had been given. He ground his morals under his boots right before cutting his opponents down, aware of how it could never be taken back, leaving a debt impossible to settle with the world.
