Summary
It’s a tight fit, kneeling in here. A tight fit with Father Brian’s cock against the back of his throat, bigger than Eddie would have expected. If he’d been thinking about things like that lately.
Father Brian twists his fingers into the chain of the St. Christopher medal around Eddie’s neck and stifles a desperate moan as he pulls the tiny metal beads taut against corded throat muscle. And for a moment, Eddie feels holy.
“You can pretend I’m Buck, if you want,” Father Brian grunts, his voice a throaty rasp.
Or maybe what Eddie really feels is damned.
or: Eddie visits Father Brian again and things spiral. The man is a priest, not a saint.

“I swear to God if you piss in my fucking car, I’m gonna punch you in the face,” Dom growls out – pretty audaciously, Brian might add, considering he got to make use of the rest stop about ninety miles back while Brian took one for the team and filled up the gas tank.
Desperate times, desperate measures, etc.

Summary
That’s what feels so good about this thing with Josh. There’s no performance. There’s no grand image to live up to. Josh already knows that Eddie kind of sucks and he isn’t afraid to tell him as much. He knows that Eddie oversteps and snaps and represses his emotions. He also knows that Eddie is hurting in ways he can’t put into words—that he has been all his life—and instead of being gentle about it he’s offering a solution, clear and blunt: come to my house and fuck me like a man.

Summary
Josh is out at a gay bar, trying unsuccessfully to be picked up, when he sees a guy with a mustache sitting alone at the bar. He’s about to slide up next to him when he realizes, oh shit, that’s Eddie Diaz.
Eddie looks… well, he’s always been hot, but this is on another level.
But Eddie also looks miserable. The mustache is hot, obviously, but it’s not a good sign. Something happened to Eddie that made him need to change who he sees in the mirror, and from the expressionless way he’s throwing back straight liquor he’s not dealing with it well.

Summary
El Paso, June 2010
Looking at Evan is hard sometimes, the same way looking into the sun without blinking is hard, but looking away is even harder because Evan has a smile that lights up a room and when he laughs, his eyes crinkle at the corners.
Eddie has wanted him since the moment they met, and while that was easy to ignore - this is harder. This, that's Evan's humor and the way he cares too much about the people around him and not nearly enough about himself. It's the way he'll memorize random fun facts he's never going to need but still doesn't know the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars, and it's his complete disregard for personal space, highlighted every time his shoulder bumps Eddie's when they're walking next to each other.
Or:
Eddie and Shannon get married young. What if they broke up instead?
Buck leaves home at 20. His adventures take him all the way to Peru and back. What if they took him to El Paso?- Language:

Eddie’s gaze drop to Buck’s lips—pink, like his birthmark. Eddie wants to taste those lips, and he wants it with a fierceness so sudden it shocks him.
“I’m, uh,” Buck stammers. “Last night. When you saw me and Tommy…we—we were on a date.”
Everything inside Eddie goes still. If his heart is a kite, then this is the moment it plummets back to earth.
or, Buck tells Eddie some news. Eddie has a realization and breaks up with his girlfriend. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
It was bullshit. It was total bullshit. He’d never given in, not once, not a single time, to anything that wasn’t absolutely what he knew he was supposed to want. And now, the single, solitary time he slipped up, once, took something he knew he wasn’t entitled to but that he actually wanted, just once, and now this? It was a joke. It was an absolute joke. The universe was laughing at him, and jeering, God was shaking his head, disappointed but not surprised, and all Eddie could assume was he was being punished after all. Tested, like Job.
He’d thought it was enough not to act on anything, but obviously, just having the urges in the first place was enough. And now he was paying for them.

Summary
"So do you ever think you'll try it?" Buck asks.
"Sleeping with a woman?" Ravi asks, raising his eyebrows. "I haven't seriously considered it before, to be honest." An idea occurs to him, probably buoyed by the alcohol, and he looks up through his lashes when he adds, "But if I do ever decide to try it, maybe you can teach me some things."
They're standing close enough that Ravi can hear the little catch in Buck's breath at that. A clamoring rush of thoughts cascades through him: oh my god, and yes, and really?, and I can't believe that worked. "And you know. Learning by doing is the best way to learn something," Ravi says. His heart is pounding so hard he can feel the veins in his neck. "Maybe you could show me. How to--how to treat a woman."

“And you’re posting this because you’re an ally,” Hen says, realization dawning on her face.
“Yeah,” Buck confirms. “Why is this so confusing?”
“It’s not,” Hen says. Chimney opens his mouth, as if to object, and Hen kicks him sharply. “As a card-carrying lesbian, I thank you for your allyship.”
“Awesome.” Buck grins, relieved. He pauses as her words register. “Wait. Do you actually have a card? Is this a thing? I feel like I should know this.”
Based on the way Hen bursts into laughter, he’s pretty sure the answer is no.

Summary
If the only reason he isn’t rotting in the ruins of a department store in Encino is because of the sense of duty of a rookie he’s tormented from the moment they met, then Tommy shouldn’t be here right now.
Statistically, karmically, cosmically, like he’s always known in the back of his mind, Tommy was never supposed to make it out of that mall. An insignificant man dying in an insignificant place—his fate finally unfurled. Any other American man burned and buried in the belly of any other American strip mall, the two of them indiscernible archetypes of their kind.

Summary
Josh raises an eyebrow. "1.0? Are you an iPhone now?"
"I forgot you don't know about all that." Buck smiles. "It was a way to distinguish between growth. That first Buck got people in the academy to like him by being that kinda guy. That's where I got the name, because there were three Evans."
"Oh," Josh replies, with the air of a man solving a mystery that's never occurred to him until right now. Then his eyes turn sympathetic. "That Buck didn't tell anyone there about that part of you, did he?"
Buck shrugs. "I was sleeping around a lot, it just didn't - like, I tried to be a Navy SEAL at one point, and the academy guys were way less like, scary macho straight energy than those guys but,
they were still like that a bit, like I'd tell them about girls but they'd make those kind of, you're so gay for this jokes with each other, and like, I get that they were joking, I just knew, it'd be weird to tell them about the guys. It was just, I don't know easier, to be that guy, you know?"*
buck starts hanging out with and then dating josh. eddie's totally fine with it. totally. (and maddie's none too thrilled either...)

after carson and he discover eddie passed out in a nightclub, josh lets him crash on his couch to sleep it off. this leads to an unexpected friendship between him and eddie, one that soon becomes more beneficial than either of them could've imagined...
*
Eddie giggles at this, in a way that is silly but doesn’t feel funny. Josh feels like they should not be witnessing this. “I’m fine…Just was taking a little nap. I’m tired.”
On the bathroom floor in a gay club is not the best place for it.
“It’s after one am, so I can imagine,” Josh replies, failing to keep the snark completely out of his tone. “Are you here with anyone?”
“Nope,” Eddie says, with a defiant kind of set to his grin, now. “I don’t have anyone.”

Eddie has been in a lot of – unfortunate situations, so to speak.
He’s been shot, he’s been blown up, he’s been buried alive. If it’s insane and unlikely to happen, it’s happened to him.
He wonders what the statistics are on being impaled on a length of rebar in a collapsed building.
He wonders if it’s more or less likely that your partner is impaled on the other end.
