Summary
The glow that’s cast over John's book dims, a shadow blanketing the pages, and two hands come into view, bracing on the edge of the table, rings clicking against the wood.
“You lost?”
John looks up and meets steely blue eyes with his own wide ones. Broad arms flex where the man leans against the table, and tobacco and sweet–cedar cologne fill his nose and lungs when he inhales, hitting him like a fist to the face, making his head spin. The stranger seems to consider him for a moment, and John’s cheeks grow warm.

“Didn’t think you’d actually go through with the costume, though," Gale says, his eyes flicking to the bunny ears perched on John’s head.
“Yeah, well,” John glances away, then back again, staring unabashedly at Gale’s arms before meeting his eyes. “Didn’t think you’d show up looking like you’re about to close a business deal. Where’s your costume?”
Gale shrugs, moving closer, casually sliding an arm behind John. The warmth of his palm against his back is enough to cut through the noise and mess of colours and lights, and John blinks slowly when Gale’s pretty lips curve up into a smile. “Thought I could just wear you instead.”

His plea breaks off into a curse when Gale lets the ice cube in his palm slide onto John’s stomach, watching as it settles in the dip of his belly button, John’s skin so fever–hot that Gale can immediately see the smallest pool of water beginning to form.
“You’ve been whining about being hot all week,” Gale says, pressing his lips to John’s thigh, feeling the muscle twitch at his touch. “I’m just helpin’ you out.”

The smile he bore was one of utter mischief, a gleam to those soft browns hidden beneath pretty eyelashes. Taking a quick drink, Felix eased forward, shifting his weight forward to inch closer to Oliver.
Everyone’s attention suddenly captured by the question leaving them in suspension.
Was he really about to do this?
“Felix, it’s fine…” Oliver had tried to argue, but Felix had already reached him, immediately raising a finger to press down against Oliver’s lips, preventing further words from being spoken.
“Come on, Ol. You’ve got one kiss in there for me, right? It’s just me.”
