She’s the product of a quirk, which allows the owner to create a child based on the DNA of any two people she touches,” she reports. “Apparently the quirk owner was a fan who attended an event you two held today. She dropped off the baby about an hour ago and mentioned you two by name.”

The seal on the top of the paper is the Justice League’s symbol. Joining the Justice League is the highest honor a hero can receive. Only the best of the best heroes ever get an invite. Those are the heroes called for the biggest things, like alien invasions and major disasters. They’re the representatives of the worldwide hero community to the rest of the world.
He scans the details of the cover letter. It’s as generic and bland as the rest of them—still written in perfect Japanese, though—and it’s from Batman.
Batman...Batman is an American hero.
An American hero wants him as an intern?

Kariage raises an eyebrow, smirk growing on his face. “You two seem to be getting along really well,” he says, eyes moving over to Kacchan. “You guys get over that whole suicide�baiting thing, then? ‘Cause honestly, Katsuki, that was a little too far, don’t you think?”
Kacchan manages to suppress the flinch as he locks his jaw in place to stare directly back at Kariage, but Izuku notices it. Of course he notices it. He’s spent too much of his life admiring Kacchan for him to not see it.
“What?” Ochako asks, voice wavering, as she whips her head around to stare at Kacchan.
Oh, God, no.

“Katsuki?” she asks, her head cocked to the side and her face taken over by a confused expression. “It’s four in the morning. Deku isn’t home, you know that, right? You were on patrol with him, weren’t you? But—what’s going on? You have a key, you don’t need to knock…”
Her voice trails off as her eyes finally catch the envelope he’s pulling out of his pocket. Katsuki doesn’t say a word, hand tightening on the envelope. He’s wrinkling it, he knows, but it’s already bloodstained and soot-covered and it won’t matter once the envelope is in her hands because he knows Ochako well enough to know she’s going to lose her shit.

His features are mostly blank and unreadable, thoughts carefully concealed with the skill of someone who’s experienced in confrontations, but his eyes give him away. They’re hard and black as coal, smoldering with an intensity that could only be deep-seated rage barely controlled, like the embers of a dying fire that could easily burst back to life if poked and prodded enough. The grip he has on Sanji’s arms is harsh and unyielding, and Sanji winces as Ace’s belt buckle bites into his lower back from how firmly he’s pushing the blonde up against the wall.
