Summary
Books, at their basic level, are a place to hold stories; however truthful or fantastical. Even a fictitious book has its origins steeped in some manner of truth. For one to understand this, one must look past this basic level of comprehension and read through the content matter critically.
For a certain being, a certain angel, books are more than just stories; they’re glimpses into his past.

Summary
Heartache is knowing the shop itself remains, but the books inside are just memories– ghosts of their former selves. The shell is the same, but the meat inside is hollow and sickly. It makes your stomach churn and your heart turn to a heavy stone stuck in the middle of your chest.
It’s how he feels every day driving the Bentley to the coffee shop across the street. The closer he gets, the worse the feeling. Some days, he doesn’t go. Other days, he finds himself driving much slower. He’s sure Aziraphale would have appreciated it, if they’d still been here…if they’d been together.
You go too fast for me, Crowley.

The sky, inky black and motionless, just like the world, hovers endlessly above him. He swallows; takes a moment to ground himself, and searches. He looks for any sign that he’s not alone in this strange, new world.
And then there’s light.

After Aziraphale mentions going to visit a planetarium, Crowley decides to see if this human shrine to his work can help him remember what he’s lost.

Summary
The sound of an ancient door laced with symbolism of a world on the brink of collapse makes a terrible cracking noise against the cries of women. Some of the men would have, could have sworn they felt the building shake upon its groundings that day. Aziraphale and Crowley know though. They know that the electric surge they feel through their bodies as they watch everything unfold is something good. Something needed.
The door cracks again, louder this time. Everyone grows silent, their attention and eyes drawn to the heavy doors in front of them.

Summary
“Anyway,” he declares. “I won't be going anywhere without you, Benny boy. I’ll be right here ‘til you change your mind.”
Ben shoots him a look, one that merely pleads please don’t, but Caleb - committed to his cause, which is playing some juvenile game to guilt him out of getting anything useful done tonight - throws himself onto the bed to wait. Ben’s bed, that is; Caleb has his own room in the inn somewhere. Before Ben can say so much as get off, Caleb kicks up his feet and settles his arms behind his head in easy defiance.
Ben rolls his eyes, and returns his attention to his work.
(Listen, I loved 4x10. But this will always be the end-of-the-war canon of my heart.)

Summary
Crowley had Aziraphale over weeks ago and hadn’t been able to offer him anything except a kitchen stool and some leftover shepherd’s pie. His own flat has never been anything other than a place to keep his plants, sleep, and waste time when he was between jobs or get-togethers with Aziraphale - he didn’t have so much as a throw to offer him.
Demons didn’t nest. Angels and birds did, but demons didn’t, really. It wasn’t done. Nests are home and comfortable - the antithesis of demons everywhere. They could; the instinct is still there, just like the wings they still have.
But they don’t.
Crowley, though. He’s never much cared for tradition.
Sitting in the backseat of the Bentley and staring out the window, he murmured, “Never been a very good demon though, have I? What’s an itty-bitty nest compared to taking a stand against Satan themselves?”

Summary
“What was it like?” Aziraphale asked, apropos of everything and nothing, all at once.
“...the wine?” Crowley asked, his head tilting further so the slightest glint of his eyes showed above the rims of his sunglasses. “Passable. Worth facing Satan for, at least.”
Not what he was asking, and Aziraphale was equally sure that Crowley knew and was avoiding answering, and also that it was ludicrous to think that a demon – even one of six thousand years of acquaintance – could possibly—
“...Angel, you don’t want to know,” Crowley amended his answer, his head turning back to gaze up at the molecules of intoxication potential.

Summary
Reluctantly Crowley releases his hold on Aziraphale, whose face is a fun cross between completely stunned and mildly agitated. Which is not exactly what one wants to see on someone’s face after having just kissed them.
