    Summary

Books, at their basic level, are a place to hold stories; however truthful or fantastical. Even a fictitious book has its origins steeped in some manner of truth. For one to understand this, one must look past this basic level of comprehension and read through the content matter critically.

For a certain being, a certain angel, books are more than just stories; they’re glimpses into his past.

    Summary

Heartache is knowing the shop itself remains, but the books inside are just memories– ghosts of their former selves. The shell is the same, but the meat inside is hollow and sickly. It makes your stomach churn and your heart turn to a heavy stone stuck in the middle of your chest.

It’s how he feels every day driving the Bentley to the coffee shop across the street. The closer he gets, the worse the feeling. Some days, he doesn’t go. Other days, he finds himself driving much slower. He’s sure Aziraphale would have appreciated it, if they’d still been here…if they’d been together.

You go too fast for me, Crowley.

    Summary

The sky, inky black and motionless, just like the world, hovers endlessly above him. He swallows; takes a moment to ground himself, and searches. He looks for any sign that he’s not alone in this strange, new world.

    And then there’s light.

    Summary

Crowley remembers everything, except for the things he can’t. He remembers his Fall. He remembers the Heavens that he created. But something is missing. After Aziraphale mentions going to visit a planetarium, Crowley decides to see if this human shrine to his work can help him remember what he’s lost.

    Summary

The sound of an ancient door laced with symbolism of a world on the brink of collapse makes a terrible cracking noise against the cries of women. Some of the men would have, could have sworn they felt the building shake upon its groundings that day. Aziraphale and Crowley know though. They know that the electric surge they feel through their bodies as they watch everything unfold is something good. Something needed.

The door cracks again, louder this time. Everyone grows silent, their attention and eyes drawn to the heavy doors in front of them.

    Summary

It wasn’t just a reminder for Crowley, Aziraphale realized as he stroked one of the wings of the bird statue. The memories flooded his mind almost instantly as he remembered that night in 1941 when he had been held up at gunpoint by Nazis, and Crowley had come to save the day; to rescue him.

It was the day Aziraphale realized something gut-wrenchingly terrible about himself.

    Summary

    Sunflowers are marvelous things.

    They are wonderful things.

    They are stunning things.

The sunflowers that grew in St. James Park were some of the most beautiful flowers to ever grow on the grounds. Their petals and stems were pristine; they all stood at full height each and every morning, even as they grew taller and taller, full of love and kindness. Aziraphale had kept his promise about not using any miracles; instead he opted to visit the park every day and talk to his flowers for hours. He’d started the very next morning after they had planted them.

But what he hates most about those four letter words?

He hates how much he loves the way Aziraphale scrawls them across his skin like a prayer at night; limbs entangled with one another as they hold fast against the universe.

“You killed Michael,” Crowley manages through a dry mouth. Aziraphale pauses, contemplating a moment, before returning to the binds around Crowley’s arms. He’s silent, and Crowley looks past him now to the dark stain on the floor.

    Summary

In reality, a kiss lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on how long the recipients can hold their breath while exploring each others mouths. For celestial beings, breathing isn’t an issue, and those seconds ticked by slower and slower until Crowley had to wonder briefly amidst the feeling of burning against his lips and the heat of the other man’s body seeping into his every last inch of being, if this was what eternity felt like; their lips pressed against one another, bodies so desperate and clinging to the edge of the space rock that hurtled through space, and, if this was what eternity truly was, and were either of them ready for that?

    Summary

“You know there’s another one down there?” The demon Crawley hummed.

“I’m-I’m sorry, what?” came the exasperated reply of the angel who had already returned his attention back to the two in the desert.

Like most stories, there are always bits and bobs that never make it to the end page. For many of these stories, they glance over things that seem less significant, or trivial. We will attempt to bring forth a story that may or may not have been an underlying theme (mistake) throughout the coming of the End Times...and what came of it after they had inadvertently stopped it from happening. A long haul, slow burn story that takes us from what was, to what is, and what will be.
