“Hawks?” Enji voice is wet, spitting up blood with the word. His eyes are searching unseeingly for the other man.
“I’m right here, Enji,” he reassures as he uses his sleeve to brush some of the blood from his lover’s face “I’m right here with you, Big Guy, help is almost here, just hang on.” His voice carries the same false confidence he always relies on to mask his feelings. He knows Enji can see right through it, but the older man smiles anyway, just a little, soft. This isn’t Endeavor the Hero looking up at Hawks right now. This is Enji the man, the man Hawks wants to spend his life beside- however much is left.
