“Chris really likes your class,” Eddie says, breaking the silence for the first time in several minutes. “You're a good teacher, man.”
Buck bites his tongue in an attempt to suppress how big he wants to smile at that. “You think so?”
“Of course. I hope I can get there one day.”
Buck turns to look at him for a moment, and Eddie actually looks—hesitant, maybe, or nervous, and Buck doesn't know what he ever has to be nervous about. “Hey. You're a great teacher already.”
Eddie chuckles. “You have no way of knowing that.“
“No, but I know that you're already a great person,” Buck says, and he finds that he means it. “That's like half the battle.”
“I'm not a great person just because I bring you coffee every morning."
Mr. Diaz is the new art teacher. He brings Mr. Buckley coffee every morning.

Summary
There had always been a thread connecting Buck and Eddie together.
From the moment they met, it was just BuckandEddie. No space between them. Through every disaster, every close call, every time the world tilted sideways—they felt it. Just an invisible string keeping the two tethered as one.
Neither of them ever expected that line to break.
And they certainly never thought it breaking would end with Buck getting swallowed whole by hundreds of pounds of rubble.
Or a rewrite of 8x18 where the zip line breaks and Buck gets trapped beneath the rubble.

“I’d love to,” Eddie says, cutting him and his rambling off, without even really thinking about it, but it’s the truth.
Of course Buck has already read the ballroom article on wikipedia, probably the first person ever to read it, and of course he will dance with him, of course he wants to dance with him.
