“Stan’s gonna give me an earful for this,” he mutters. The wind is picking up and Xeno has to shield his face from the icy rain that pricks him like needles. He really wishes he could use his umbrella, but there’s no point. It would just turn over or rip apart anyway. This weather really is best avoided, he thinks as he makes his way through the campus gates. There’s barely any light, since all the shops have closed some hours ago, only the streetlights help him find his way. With visibility so low, Xeno almost doesn’t notice the tiny figure that’s huddled up in the entrance of a nearby café. He has half a mind to hurry off but curiosity has always got the better of him and so he moves closer. What he finds is a child, sitting on the floor, arms wrapped around their legs and face pressed against their knees. The child makes no sound, but Xeno can tell they’re crying.

Only then did he realize how his hand had come to grip Rayne's as he had now let go of his collar, how much force he was exerting in preventing himself from letting go to the point where he could see the limb tremble and the veins now more accentuated on the surface of the skin.
"Tears? What tears?” He asked slowly and in a feeble voice, not being able to understand what the other was referring to. He never cried, he wasn't able to.

Summary
Loud knocking and yells wake Orter up at 5am on the dot. He stares at the ceiling reconsidering the previous night’s decision of letting Dot and Lance stay over after a long day of intense training, which in turn turned into a night stay from Finn and Mash as well. Where did the last two come from? He doesn’t know, and at this point he is truly too tired to even question the kids.
He hears Dot knock again and call for his name, Finn’s scared whining coming right after as he tries to stop him. Orter can almost see the other two just standing at a distance watching, not doing anything to aid either of their friends.
