Sukuna keeps his hands folded over his abdomen. Through Yuuji's eyes, everything is misty, clouded with a haze. Perhaps it's because of the wound, the sensation of his hand being cleaved clean off. He wouldn't know.
All he knows is that his vessel—his vessel—is in pain.
He leans back in his throne, letting warped flesh cushion the back of his head. He already sees the boy fading in and out of consciousness, body beginning to take shape within the realm of his mind. It's a matter of him trusting Sukuna.
"Yuuji," Sukuna croons, sweet and honeyed. "I can handle this for you."

Summary
What doesn’t kill you makes you weird at intimacy.
This fic explores dissociation, post-traumatic healing, and sex; the discomfort of having to be embodied to fully accept intimacy. What it means to seek pleasure after trauma // how trauma sometimes becomes directly written into our pleasure.
It imagines how not to give up on relationships despite rough patches. ItaFushi are in their mid-20s & just trying to figure out life after all the shit I put them through in the last fic. Oh, and they love each other a lot (obviously).
Can be read as a stand-alone fic despite references to things from the previous one (“I’ll Find Forgiveness in Your Heartbeat”)

In lieu of answering, he asks, “What’s your name?”
The girl scowls. “Maki.”
“Maki,” he repeats, and it’s like a missing piece of his soul falls back into place. The record of his life before he fought the Six-Eyes brat is a long, impossibly white scroll of nothing -- but written on it in faint letters is the name of a child, a child with a delicate name that brushed the heavens, spun a prayer into letters; a name that began with an M, and it ended in i, too.
“Maki,” he says again. “I think you’re my daughter.”
