This is, for me, probably one of, if not the best Yakuza fics I've ever read. The premise is hilarious from the summary, and I went in expecting some level of crack. Instead what I found was a beautiful blend of careful framing and complex emotions and needs that allows these stories to nestle perfectly in the gaps and cracks of canon lore, fitting in perfectly like a long lost puzzle piece. I expected Sohei to be cast aside as the garbage man we know him to be, and yet it's not that simple, for Yayoi, at least, that lets the actions and choices of these characters also match to the complexity we see of her in Yakuza 1 and 2. Similarly, Kashiwagi's quiet nature, but good humor shines through, reminding us why we love him and care so much despite him never truly getting a spotlit role in the series.
Tl;dr: This story flows through you like a warm bowl of stew on a cold and rainy day, leaving you warm and satisfied out to the tips of your fingers and toes. It also does one even better by basically fitting itself in to canon such that this could literally just be canon, as there's nothing contradictory.

"Majima makes a show with how loudly he blows out the smoke of his cigarette in the next moment. He turns more, then, more until Saejima can barely see his eye. Really, he doesn’t want Saejima to say anything. He kind of wants him to keep his mouth shut. He thinks about what would happen if he punched Saejima right at this moment. He wants to make it hurt. The shaking in his hands, the twitching in his fingers, he realizes it’s more anticipation than anything else. Majima needs to do something. Without his gloves, he digs his thumbnails into his palms, and he discards his smoke, only half finished. He doesn’t stamp it out this time, and it continues barely flickering orange and yellow against the pavement of the roof."
The year is 2017, and Majima Goro has lost his way.
