    Summary

“Nan Feng!” Mu Qing snaps. “I told you – we will not be sharing a room.”

    “Of course, we will.”

“Why do I even put up with you?”

“I don’t know.” Nan Feng flashes him a grin. “But you’ve been doing it for a long time, so surely you can put me up for one more night.”

Mu Qing doesn't know who Nan Feng is.

    Summary

In the days leading up to the lunar new year, someone has been leaving them food. Feng Xin finds out who it is.

    🌸🌸🌸🌸

When Feng Xin reaches for the knot at the back of the other man’s head, there’s a panicked look in his eyes. “Stop. Wait –” His tone is almost pleading.

Feng Xin cups the small face with hands. “Hey. It’s fine,” he hushes as the mask falls on the snow. “I know it’s you.”

Or Mu Qing finds himself pinned to a tree.

    Summary

It ends like this: Xie Lian’s shackles shatter, Jun Wu screams.

The sound, furious and utterly terrifying, reverberates around them, “How dare you?” He throws a sword to the ground. “How dare you break it?”

The explosion of spiritual energy leaves deep gouges in the walls of the mountain, evidence of its power, of what it took to break it.

Xie Lian’s face hardens behind Hua Cheng’s, and Feng Xin thinks he looks more like the confident crown prince he used to know, always ready for a battle, a challenge. He raises his head to speak when Jun Wu turns, locking eyes with Mu Qing.

“You,” he says, tone sick and disgusting with something akin to an overwhelming fake kindness, “you’ll do.”

or, Feng Xin dies, comes back to life, and wrecks Mu Qing's life (not necessarily in that order)

    Summary

“Like, you could’ve said that I’m–”

“So brave and strong for surviving? Oh, I was so, so worried. Good job for surviving so long without me,” Mu Qing says, rolling his eyes while drawling out the last sentence, words so saccharine they send chills creeping down his spine. “Good boy, Feng Xin.”

A strange, warm tingle spreads through Feng Xin's body, all the way to the tips of his fingers, as he feels his face flush.

The first realization that strikes his poor, poor heart: Mu Qing staring at him with his piercing, slightly mean gaze, saying nice things about him however sarcastic it may be, makes his heart burst and skin burn.
