Marlene McKinnon is a mess. She can’t sleep, she’s almost certainly going to fail all her NEWTs, and she’s 99% sure that if they don’t win the Quidditch Cup this year James Potter will throw himself headfirst off the Astronomy Tower. On top of all that, there’s a war on, yet their professors seem determined to pretend that the biggest problem any of them are facing is finding a Ministry internship. Marlene’s final year at Hogwarts has barely started, and she’s already pretty sure it couldn’t get any worse—that is, until she shows up for her first Potions class and hears the assignment.

Buck’s feet are still on the stairs when Eddie snaps out of the haze that had settled over his thoughts and echoed hot single dad over and over again in his brain, closes his laptop and follows downstairs. Buck’s crouched in front of Chris, explaining that he can pick him up something at Bobby’s, and Eddie can see on Chris’ face that he’s gearing up for an argument. “Actually,” Eddie says, taking the opportunity to rest his hand on Buck’s shoulder—to let him know he’s there, he tells himself—“lunch together sounds good—uh, all of us, if that’s okay. I could—I’d like to buy you lunch.”

They truly are in the middle of nowhere: the countryside rushes past, all rolling green hills and vast, endless skies, and it's odious. Sirius wants to murder James with his bare hands.
Sirius and James accidentally find themselves on a Yorkshire farm during lambing season. The farmer’s son thinks that’s a bit annoying, actually.

It was so dark when Bucky handed him the note, the fire just burning out, and he glanced back only once to see Steve watching him as he walked away.
