Alas, there were no books on how to help a woman as stubborn as Elphaba Thropp through her pregnancy, especially when said woman was adamantly and steadfastly refusing any and all assistance whatsoever.
or, in other words: elphaba thropp is easy to love but hard to take care of, since no one has ever cared for her before. as her pregnancy progresses, galinda upland tries her damndest to do both anyways.

Zosia is still clad in that long satin-black robe, but as she rises from the bed, the fabric length that had pooled amorphously and shapelessly around her body slackens flatteringly over her figure. And suddenly Carol knows, knows with terrible certainty— knows by the way that nightgown drapes not off Zosia's chest, but instead over a firm, round, undeniable protrusion jutting out from just below her abdomen.
“No,” Carol repeats mechanically. “That… that’s not possible.”
“Congratulations, Carol!” Zosia chirps. She shifts her weight to her back foot and drapes a hand over her swollen, spherical middle. “We’re pregnant! And it’s yours.”
