“Once or twice,” Solana agrees. Etarn’s close enough that his knee brushes up against hers. She tips her head. “Did you want us to show you the ropes?”
Etarn taps a talon against her knee. “I wouldn’t say no to the help,” he agrees easily. His mandibles flare a little, and he leans in. “It’s always nice to meet someone who knows what they’re doing.”
“I agree,” Solana says. Across the stove, Aellae smothers a laugh into one hand.
solana's spent a long, long time without a break. maybe this little jungle expedition with an old friend will be just what she needs.

Johnny presses his lips together, unfolds it to reveal the paparazzi picture of Kerry in all his rockstar glory. His eyes are hidden behind expensive shades and his grin is wide. He’s got two fingers hooked in the back pocket of some dark-haired wraith of a groupie.
johnny's got a new body, and a new life. he just doesn't have any idea what to do with it.

“Hey.” Kaidan sidles up to her, lays a hand on her arm. She can’t feel it through the ceramic plating, but it still eases something in her chest. “You’ve got this.” He tucks his fingers under her chin. “And after we’re done, maybe we can go back to your cabin, work out some of the tension you’ve been picking up?”
Shepard sighs, turning her face into the warmth of his hand against her skin. “Mmm, a massage? Sounds great.” Sounds like a dream, really. But once she’s managed this, it’s back to the grind, to the paperwork, the messages, the constant barrage of pleas for help. No rest for the wicked. “As long as I can find a second.”
“We’ll find you a second,” Kaidan promises. Shepard smiles against his palm and then presses her lips against his skin. “We can get you that much.”
shepard lets slip a secret she's been holding back during the mission to the geth dreadnought, and kaidan steps up to the plate.

“There you are!” His head jerks up, a smile already pulling at his lips as he stands, carefully. He’d know that voice anywhere. “Felix.”
He’d expected a warm greeting but not this, not the way Dorian scoops him up and kisses him soundly. A part of him panics for a moment before he remembers they’re hidden away from sight. For a heartbeat, Felix can pretend that there’s something else behind it, not just the years of friendship but something a little bit more - well, romantic. “Were you that lonely, in Fereldan?” he says breathlessly, as Dorian pulls away.
“I’m always lonely without you, my dear man,” Dorian scoffs, and Felix’s heart lurches traitorously. He is, after all, Dorian’s: body, soul, and mutinous heart.
felix hasn't got much time left, and it's been a long while since he saw dorian. still, it's just the same again, two pieces slotting into place. canon retelling, ish.

Jaskier looks hesitant, cupping Geralt’s face in his hands. “There’s a price for returning to life,” he says, and he draws one hand down to press against Geralt’s belly. The vines slide up, coiling around Geralt’s shoulders. Life begets life, the forest whispers, and Geralt’s eyes get caught on the plant tendrils hovering behind Jaskier. A shiver arcs up his spine. “On Birke, Brokilon can use a vessel to spread its seed. Will you - ?”
“Yes,” Geralt says, without hesitation. His hands bracket Jaskier’s hips and his thumbs press into the soft flesh. He’s done stranger things for less, and for Jaskier, he’d do anything.

The door behind him slides open. “You asked to see me?” Adam Jensen asks, and MacReady has to close his eyes, pressing his fingertips to his forehead even as he grits his teeth. Of fucking course. He would get stuck working a shit job with his least favourite tin can.
getting stuck with a low level murder case is bad enough for senior agent macready. worse still is pretending to be married to adam jensen. especially when it turns out that jensen knows how he likes his coffee (black), his whisky (neat), and his men (smug, with a great arse).

He’s hunkered next to his oil lamp, bent over his dinner, when he hears a voice. “That was kind of you.” Geralt’s head shoots up, brow furrowed. For one brief moment he’s baffled - how could someone get in here without him hearing? - but when he sees who it is, he stills. The man standing in front of him is the man he buried not two hours ago. “Didn’t think Witchers provided that kind of service. I thought you handled, y’know, making the deaths happen.”
Geralt frowns, considering. His medallion is quiet, though he’s absolutely certain: this man is a ghost. “Who are you?”
A faint smile graces the man’s face. “Julian Alfred Pankrantz, Viscount de Lettenhove.” The smile sours. “Or at least, I was.”
helping a ghost find his peace is not the strangest contract geralt's ever taken on, but it's certainly up there.

“What, you’re telling me you can’t afford a room of your own?” Geralt raises an eyebrow.
“You don’t keep a full purse without pinching a few pennies. Not all of us have a bard singing our praises from town to town. Plus, innkeeper told me the place is sold out. ” Eskel tips his chin, a smile growing on his lips. “You telling me you’re too good to share a bed like old times?”
“Think we’re a bit big for that,” Geralt says.
Eskel shrugs a shoulder. “Think we can figure it out,” he says easily. Like it’s nothing.
Geralt wishes it were nothing.
a rudderless geralt runs into eskel in oxenfurt, and they decide to take down a katakan together. it doesn't quite go according to plan, or maybe it does.
