Summary
Sevika disappears, in her inexplicable way, and Vi’s fuzzy brain berates itself for not trying to fight her. Still on a lag, it’s several minutes after that when she realises what Sevika was implying. As if Powder—no.

Summary
Pain is a strange thing to face when it doesn't come from a physical source. Sevika and Jinx knew well that kind of pain and the accompanying powerlessness of not being able to stop it; perhaps that's why it was so easy to find refuge in each other's arms.

Summary
"I am not a child!"
“Which is exactly what a child would say,” he replied, scratching some figures down in a ledger. “You’re not half as grown up as you pretend.”
Rage surged under her skin. The spring was loosed, the hammer freed. Before she knew she was going to say it, it was out of her mouth: “I’m grown-up enough for you to leer at my body every time you think I'm not looking."
Nothing on Silco’s face changed, but his hands stilled. "What are you talking about?"
No turning back now.
