“You are still a Watcher,” Myrna says. She's as calm as ever. “If-”
“You said I have to agree to something,” Rook says in a low tone, suddenly remembering.
“Yes,” Myrna says. She lifts her tea cup and sips, eyeing him over the painted-gold rim of it. “There's an old by-law that states Watcher spouses are always entitled to access to the Necropolis and grounds-”
AU, eventually canon-ish.Varric doesn't reach Nevarra City until months after The War of Banners. Myrna and Vorgoth arrange a marriage to keep their foster-son home in the Necropolis amid the fallout. Rook wishes they'd asked his opinion on the matter, but Emmrich Volkarin could be worse, for a senior necromancer.

Summary
The main trouble, Emmrich has recently surmised, is not that he has a lack of desire.
No, no.
He is insensate with desire. He burns with it, every bone and muscle and sinew keening with hot, twisting yearning. He feels like a strummed string instrument, singing a silent desperate tone that never fades.Emmrich struggles with his reservations, fears and insecurities. Rook is patient up to a point.

Summary
Did he even know what wanton was when Davrin showed just as much of his gorgeous chest while woodcarving (those shavings had to itch though, Rook reckoned) and Taash walked around with those legs out? But they were just going about their days, not implementing not-so-grand designs to get Emmrich Volkarin’s elegant hands on them.
If that was even what he was doing. If that was even what he wanted.
A series of meetings between Rook Ingellvar and Emmrich Volkarin.

Summary
Before he was Mercury Ingellvar, Rook’s foster parents arranged an academic marriage with one of the Watch’s senior researchers: a professor Rook has never met—until now. He’s sure Emmrich Volkarin doesn’t like him, and he’s not sure he likes Emmrich, either... until a disagreement reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of their relationship.
A comedy of errors and a romance of erudition.
