The plan was for you to transfer your mind to a power suit and take the Climber down to site Tau, where you would find the ARK and launch it into space the way the original PATHOS-II team was supposed to. The plan was to get you and Catherine on the ARK and go with the rest of humanity into a virtual reality that would keep you alive and safe on a satellite and far, far away from the the wreckage of you apocalyptic planet. The plan was for you to get on the ARK and leave.
Nowhere in the plan were you supposed to wake up alone at the bottom of the fucking ocean.

Summary
Mustafar may be a place of destruction, but it is also a place of rebirth. The Force takes Anakin Skywalker to the planet for some needed self-reflection after his funeral, and Obi-Wan knows better than to leave Anakin alone with his emotions.
Anakin struggles with the conflict within himself - to shut himself off, to scream at the stars, to push Obi-Wan away literally and metaphorically; and to fall into his arms, seek his guidance, be crushed under the weight of his misdeeds.
It is here, that a whole new journey begins. A journey to find true peace with one's self.

Anakin Falls on the battlefield, on a small dusty planet in the Mid Rim that’s largely unimportant in the grand scale of the war. His men are dying in scores around him, screaming, spilling their guts onto the pockmarked ground, and something that has been pulling tighter and tighter over the course of the war, over the course of his whole life—between one decapitated droid and the next, something snaps in his chest. He doesn't know it, but he's more than a year early.
Or: Anakin navigates the path from straight up not noticing, to denial, to buying a pair of ugly sunglasses to hide his unfortunate Darksider eye condition, to a number of Sith lords dying in uniquely creative ways. If he reaches acceptance, it just might save the galaxy.

When Obi-wan doesn’t follow Padmé to Mustafar, she’s able to convince Anakin to run away from everything with her. But this doesn't prevent his nightmares from coming true, and he's left alone in a hostile galaxy with the infants she begged him to protect.
“Master Anakin,” Threepio says, still hovering in the doorway. “Might I suggest bouncing the children?”
Anakin stops pacing around with the twins, head swiveling to look at Threepio. He doesn’t have to ask what the fuck Threepio is talking about; Artoo does it for him.
Threepio seems to draw himself up as straight as he can. “I have conducted extensive research on the subject of human childrearing in anticipation of Mistress Padmé giving birth. Holding an infant and gently bouncing them in the parent’s arms is thought to be an excellent calming method.”
“Oh,” Anakin says. “I thought you meant… bouncing them on the floor or something.”
