Summary
Geta was there, by the river's side where Caracalla had known to find him. Crouched and bare-footed, his feet were stained by the greyish-black sludge all the way to the ankles, where it had begun to dry and crust and flake off. He shifted, his pose straightening only somewhat from where he sat when Caracalla's sharp steps reached him, because just as much as Caracalla had known that he would find Geta there, Geta had known that he'd come and this was no surprise to him then.
"What are you doing?" Caracalla asked his twin, whose fingers, stained with the mud as well, placed an old and long-dead stick in the water.
"I'm building a fleet," he said indifferently in response. "I've been waiting for you for forever."

Something's wrong with it, but Caracalla refuses to let it in, the smell of blood, the cold of the bed. The night is cold, too. The sounds, the shouting outside. But Geta’s sleeping through it, so it can’t be too bad. It’ll all quiet down in the end.
He wanted to be here. He asked for permission, he remembers that - but he asked Macrinus, not Geta. Geta’s been sleeping already. He’s been sleeping for a while.
