“Yes. I got it from my mother.” He leaned away a little, against the door. “She trained me well. It’s bad form to venture into anyone’s mind without permission, or a very good reason.” He looked into her eyes.
“You can imagine the Auror office has plenty of good reasons for me to use this… gift. I do not, as a rule, use it for anything other than work.” He said calmly.
“Why are you telling me this, Draco?” his name rolled easily off of her lips. If he only used his power to read minds for work, maybe she was safe? Maybe he hadn’t seen…
“Because, Hermione,” he paused for a breath, or maybe to see if she’d object to him using her given name. She didn’t. “You have broken my rule.”

Hermione knew she was good with kids but this was beyond the pale. She had been called down to Emergency for a 6 month old infant boy, the original diagnosis was splinching as he had been apparated in with an injured adult but the minute Hermione looked at him she knew better and immediately cast the counter curse and began healing the open wound on the child’s chest. Someone had cast a sectumsempra on him. The Cutting curse. What sort of person would do that to a baby? It couldn't have been an accident. The hit had been dead on and with a target that small it had to have been deliberate.
