Summary
Zoey has learned that movies lie about car crashes.
There is no dramatic soundtrack. There is only a wrecked car, an unopened water bottle, a pocket-sized Jesus, and the terrifying task of texting Rumi: i got. hit.
Rumi is on her way.

Summary
Rumi moans lightly as Zoey sucks a tired hickey into her neck. Zoey hadn't even been aware she had been doing it and pulls away with an apologetic kiss to her demon’s neck.
“Good morning.” Rumi mumbles into her ear, her voice scratching from sleep. The demon tucks her muscled arms up and over Zoey’s shoulders, her hands caressing the back of Zoey’s head.
Zoey swears she hears “Joh-eun Achim”. It’s ‘good morning’ in Korean. She hears it every morning she's in bed next to the demon. It’s mumbled into her ear because Rumi is like an anxiously attached koala in her sleep.
She hears it the same today and notices no difference at all.
But what Rumi really says is, “good morning” in a horrible accented English.
Or, two idiot gays learn English for their American-Korean girlfriend.

Summary
It was supposed to be a short patrol.
Her, Mira, and Zoey were supposed to go out, kill some demons, and go back to their penthouse.
But of course, something just had to go wrong.
Honestly, it was her fault. If she had paid attention, she would’ve noticed the demon creeping up on her from behind, and she would’ve been able to block his attack.
But she wasn’t, and that bastard managed to slash her with its claws, leaving a giant gash on her left side.
And now she was bleeding out in an alley.
OR
Rumi gets hurt on patrol, Zoey and Mira see the patterns, and they talk. this is pre-canon btw. Title from daylight by Taylor Swift. Rated T for mild swearing and mention of injuries! nothing is graphic btw :)
EDIT: added a follow-up with Bobby! (8/7/2025)
