Having a whole team of people to take care of him, along with his mysterious uncle Nick as his distant benefactor seems like a sweet gig. But he’s losing his Holiday Spirit as each year slips by.
Santa Claus has been seeing a significant drop in belief- in the Holiday Spirit. Belief in love, family, and giving of oneself simply for the joy that it brings others. So he sends to Hawkins one of his most trusted elves, Fizzy Jinglenose, to help Steve believe again.

Summary
Eddie wakes up alone in the Upside Down, not knowing how he survived, and unable to reach anyone topside in Hawkins. Wounded and alone, he finds shelter at the Harrington’s house (the place is a damn fortress after all), but while hiding out there discovers he has gained the ability to walk into other people’s dreams. Specifically... Steve's.
