“So… you heard all of that and… you want me around more?” Kieren squinted at him, trying to find the catch.
“Yep. I think you’re sweet, so I’ll help you find it, and I’ll help you take care of the cat.” Kieren felt slightly nauseous at the words, not knowing how to process acceptance rather than disgust. A million things ran through Kieren's mind, a million things he wanted to say to Ron—to do.
“Don’t sleep on the floor,” is all that slipped out.

“Youve never smoked, have you?” He retorted, shoving his hands into his pockets and stepping into Naim's personal space, like he was trying to intimidate him. Naim hated that it worked, he had to fight the instinct telling him to step back and cower. He ignored the correct accusation.“Why did you lie? Did you drag me out here to kill me?” Naim asked, half sarcastic and half serious, knowing in a place like this the chance was never zero. Ryan scowled at him, eyes flicking over him like he thought Naim just said the dumbest thing he’d ever heard.
“Why did you lie?” Ryan paused, stepping forward again, if he got any closer their shoes would be touching. “Just so you could hang out with me?” That accusation caught Naim off guard, now he stepped back. He frowned and shook his head, attempting to portray confusion despite it being another true accusation.

Kieren understood what it was like to be fighting yourself, to be struggling uphill while the rest of the world spun around you. Kieren kept Ron company, even when he didn’t mean to. His digging was like a metronome, always starting and stopping at the same time.
