Summary
Process is, as implied in the definition, a time-consuming affair. When one takes into consideration the fact that a process may elongate when influenced by different factors, stretch ahead in what seems to be a never-ending road, one may get discouraged from pursuing a goal that the process is supposed to lead to. It’s hardly surprising.
One may have doubts, despite being aware of their progress just a while ago. One may forget about the progress they are making if said progress is minimal and one does not have a magnifier. One may also have a shitty eyesight.
Ash’s eyesight is not really that bad, but he needs his glasses to read, and most of the time he reads small things – be it letters, be it kanjis. Minimal. Easy to miss.

"What do you think would have happened to us?" Jisung asks, lacing his fingers in between Minho's. He can find the spaces in his fingers without fault even in the dark. "If we were around when the asteroid hit the dinosaurs?"
Minho squeezes his fingers, and Jisung knows he's smiling. "We would have gone with them, I guess. But at least it would be together."
Jisung turns to lay fully on his side. Minho just lets him move his hand with him. "I don't think so."
"Well, what do you think?" Minho whispers.
Jisung smiles and he knows that even if Minho can't see it, he can feel it. "I think we would have saved the dinosaurs."
(OR: Jisung keeps bees, Minho grows flowers. They need each other as much as the honey needs the nectar.)

“Oh? What prompted the need for your ‘fresh start’?” asks Jisung. He pops one of the transmission bolts free and scurries after it as it rolls across the ground.
Minho quirks a brow at the clumsy display, stuffs his hands in his pockets. The cute little mechanic is amusing, he’ll admit. Makes him want to say something completely out-of-left-field just to see his reaction; he imagines big round eyes, a disconcerted pout. Adorable.
Minho shrugs. “I fumbled one too many romantic prospects east of the Continental Divide, and I have too much of a pariah complex to handle it maturely.”

Or: Following another catastrophic end to a long list of failed relationships, Minho decides to pack up and start his life anew, but his plans are thwarted when his car breaks down on his drive across the Rocky Mountains. He’s then forced to take up temporary residence in the nearby lakeside town while he waits for his car to be repaired by the cute local mechanic.
