"Dear Eloise,
I promised I would write, and so I shall; though I confess, I’ve been staring at this blank page for the better part of an hour, trying to decide how to begin. It is one thing to speak to you in person, where your expressions do half the work for me, and quite another to put ink to paper without the benefit of your raised eyebrow or impatient sigh to guide me. (I suppose I shall have to imagine those instead.)
The road is uneventful thus far, though I admit I find myself missing the noise of London.
I hope your family is well and that your brother has not yet driven you to madness with his hovering. And I hope (though I have no right to) that you might think of me every now and then, if only to scoff at whatever clumsy turn of phrase I’ve managed in this letter.

"Sure, pay him a house where he'll probably get into with someone else someday," Sarah muttered.
"Isn't that exactly what happens?" Sharon said. “Sam ignores you and passes you off as if you were a sad man and not his ex-husband."
"I listened to you every time you called him on the phone to find out where he was, I saw you receive that envelope and I felt how much it hurt you," Joaquín revealed.
