Summary
Lance’s posture has gone from somewhat respectable to bad to worse, and his attention span is slowly but surely reaching its breaking point, when the door in the back of the room slides open.
Blue and gray and black. Long, dark hair. A familiar set of eyes. The same faded scar carved along his cheek.
Lance jerks upright, nearly jumping out of his chair.
“I’m filling in for Kolivan.”
The words strike right through Lance’s sternum. And he didn’t even have his defenses up. He didn’t have time to prepare.
Although somewhere deep down, he knows that no time in the world could’ve prepared him for seeing Keith again.
or: Being stuck with his ex at a diplomatic conference for a solid month is super cool and very fun. Because Lance is over him. Obviously. He so is.

“My Abuela said it,” Silvio insists. “She said you have to wear the hat, because you have a pale ass so you’re going to get skin cancer and die before Lance even wakes up.”
Keith looks between the children and the hat, too confused to glare, sweaty and horrid from pulling weeds beneath the scorching sun. “What?”
“That’s wrong,” Nadia complains, and yanks her brother down to her level to whisper the correction in his ear.
“Ooh,” Silvio amends. “Tía Veronica said you have a pale ass. My Abuela said you’re gonna die.”

When Lance is fatally wounded during their final battle, the blue lion enters a deep hibernation with Lance inside. Unsure when or if he’ll wake, Keith is forced to wait and watch over him in the company of the people he fears most: Lance’s family.

Summary
It all seems to happen in slow motion, as if the world has ceased to revolve. Hanzo has dreams sometimes where he is allowed to return, over and over, to the same scenario — to rewind and start again. He feels as if this happens a dozen times while Cassidy sizes him up. Of all the dangerous people here, he has not been so certain one could kill him since the night Genji revealed himself.
Then Cassidy’s stance shifts, the tilt of his head suddenly more relaxed, and he thrusts his hand out between them. “Nice to meet you,” he says in a low rumble, some pretense at warmth, as if he did not spend the past several seconds considering whether or not he might kill a man.
There is nothing to do but shake his hand. His grip is tight and lingering, a hint of the same steel Hanzo saw in his eyes, and then it is over. He brushes past, leaving Hanzo to marvel over the violent thumping in his chest.
