Summary
In 1180, the continent of Fódlan was blind to the precipice it rested on. A princess bared within her rebellious, revolutionary ideas, a prince was attempting to outrun the demons in his shadow, and a newly-proclamed duke struggled to live in a world not meant for him. And at the center of it all, a goddess was awakening.
Byleth Eisner, daughter of Jeralt Eisner the Blade Breaker, was unaware of what haunted her mind, or why her father did not speak of his past. A chance encounter brings her to the place that could answer her questions, if she knew to ask them.
War looms hidden over the horizion, and as Byleth is forced to step up as teacher, commander, and friend, the only thing she can do is attempt to cut out the corruption at the center of this conspiracy root and stem, lest it take everything she loves.

Summary
The visions were nothing new to Byleth. She'd had them, off and on, since she was young. At best they seemed meaningless and at worst they were a source of confusion, but at least they were few and far between.
Yet in the spring of Imperial Year 1180, something changes. When familiar faces come to the monastery, Byleth is forced into the Officer's Academy by Lady Rhea, and the visions get more frequent -- and more disturbing.
Fire. Blood. War. Shards of scenes she can't quite put together into a whole, made all the more unsettling because she is starting to recognize the people and places in them. And glimpses of a strange young girl who only seems to be getting more and more frustrated with Byleth as time goes on.
A year in the Academy would've been hard enough if she were just dealing with Rhea's cryptic guidance, a professor with a bewildering amount of personal interest in her and a nosy house leader. But throw in life-threatening missions, demonic beasts, and shady plots from both outside and within the church she calls home?
No matter how hard she fights against destiny, the fires of war seem to become more and more inevitable.

Cyril knows a lot more than he lets on, Claude is far less covert than he thinks he is, and messing with the guy your parents told you was a possibly-unkillable demon-prince isn’t usually supposed to earn you a lasting friendship but hey… life is already pretty damn weird.
