Summary
Dan and Phil have spent sixteen years denying they're together.
Then their PR team suggests they stop.
It's only supposed to be a publicity stunt:
Hard-launch a fake relationship, promote their new podcast and finally stop worrying about every touch and every shared hotel room.Pretending should be easy. After all, they already live together, know each other better than anyone else, and apparently look convincing enough without even trying.
The difficult part is figuring out where the performance ends...and why neither of them seems particularly eager to find out.
Or: What if the hardlaunch actually was a PR stunt?
Or: They are oblivious idiots.

He looks like he does on screen, black emo hair a little like a very attractive bird’s nest, with yellow-checkered cat ears on his head, but unmistakably Phil. Dan is shocked, genuinely, that not everyone here falls head over heels for this man immediately. Surely they must. Surely they’re just doing a better job than Dan is at keeping it in. Maybe he’s not gay, maybe this is just what Phil does to people.
“Hi,” Phil says. “You’ve got nice whiskers.”
Dan chose the safety of a girlfriend over Phil, and now he meets Phil in real life for the first time at a YouTuber meetup. And for the first time. And for the first time. And for the- It's a time loop fic.

“We’re friends. I’m happy to do you a favour.”
She really does mean it. There is nothing Penelope wouldn’t do for Colin Bridgerton.
But then he raises his eyebrows, clears his throat, and says, “I was wondering if you might consider letting me fuck you and pretend that I am trying to get you pregnant.” He pauses, pondering before he adds: “Please.”
---
Or, after a series of increasingly unhinged sex dreams, Colin asks Penelope if he can roleplay getting her pregnant. Platonically, of course. That should get it out of his system.

Summary
Penelope Featherington has been trying to get over her crush on her best friend Colin Bridgerton for the last several years. It should be pretty easy to do considering he spends the vast majority of his time away from London and in far off corners of the world as part of his travel writing and social media enterprises. He’s never around and she only sees him a couple of times a year at most. However, it turns out her problem in being unable to get over him has nothing to do with how often she spends time with him in-person. Her problem is the telephone.
