“I tried to kill myself again after the divorce,” Jayce says, scratching his beard. “Cait made me promise I wouldn’t do that ever again, but today she went and told Viktor about it.”
He lifts the six-pack of beer in his hand, dangling it from his middle finger. An offering.
He says, “Figured it might not count if you kill me. I brought you a bribe, if you need it.”
Vi stares at him. She stares at him for a long time.
Then she says, “Janna fucking help me.”

Summary
He looks at Viktor, into the golden eyes he'd thought he'd lost forever, and sees what they both know. This is it, the end of their dream. The end of them.
So he pulls Viktor closer, lays his hand on his neck and rests their forehead together. He stays like this even when he feels himself start to drift away, the rune in his hand burning like the sun itself. But the thing he feels the most is Viktor’s skin against his, soothing the pain away.
They’re quickly drifting away, hand in hand, towards oblivion.
