Summary
Ford trusts Jheselbraum. After everything that she has done to empower him on his mission, he doesn't hesitate when she suggests that he visit a man called "The Archivist." Ford's journey throughout the multiverse has prepared him to expect just about anything, but this eccentric Archivist and his expansive menagerie deep in the heart of Dimension 52 is truly unlike anything Ford has experienced so far. The Archivist may have the most complete map of the multiverse in existence, but he also has a dark secret that could break Ford completely.
Ford has always prided himself as a bastion of logic, but it is amazing how powerful the heart can be.

"Relax, kid!" With a wave of his hands, the equations are cleared away, blackboard replaced by a floating chess table and two armchairs. "Give it a few days—it'll come to you. You've got time."
Ford gets that adorable little furrow in his brow. Makes Bill want to eat him, keep him inside of him forever, give him his own galaxy, never let him go, not from now 'till the end of time—
Yeesh. This is how it always goes. You go soft, you get crushed. He knows better than to let it happen, but it's easy to fall into old patterns. Too easy."

“I would have shown you the entire world. I would have made all this seem trivial. There are entire planets out there that are just ocean, just stars—anything you wanted, Sixer, I could have given it to you.” You let him feel your hands travel down. His flushed neck, the ridges in his spine. His ribs, hitching as he breathes. The blood on his hands, under his nails, red. The blood on yours. “I could still give it to you.”
