Gods don’t bleed. Everyone knows that, it’s just… how it works.
Gods don’t bleed. Which is probably why Eros is staring at him like he’s grown five heads, turned into a sheep and started doing a dance on hooves. Zagreus stares at the red liquid that pools around his abdomen, blinking slow and eyes wide. Even if gods do bleed- which some poor fools like Homer have attempted to argue- it would be gold. It would be the ichor that stains the soles of Ares’ feet, or sometimes Aphrodite’s soft lips- gold, shimmering, the same colour as fair Apollo’s bright eyes. But this blood is not the same colour as mortal drachmae, that fact alone seeming to make Eros wish he had never picked up the spear to begin with.
(or, zagreus is brought up to believe he is the son of aphrodite and ares, twin brother to eros. his risk of discovery leads to him having to be sent to find Death, lest he begin a war on olympus. chances are, that happens anyway.)

Thanatos is fine.
Just fine, he most certainly doesn't need a rebellious prince in his life at all. Definitely not.
But yet Thanatos just can't seem to keep himself away from Zagreus, his body fighting against his own logic, when he gets too close he brings death, and that's all he's good for right?
Zagreus doesn't think so.
AKA: A slowburnish fluff-focus fic about their dynamic as a pair and how they interact with their friends, their families and other members of the house! Along with lots of drama, dramatics and mild violence, a lot of this fic follows the canon game story, with some deviation at points.

All and all, Thanatos was used to worry. He carried it with him as readily as he carried his scythe, and it was equally a part of him. He had long since embraced it, knowing it was inescapable to run from and foolish to be ashamed of.
But even despite aeons of self-development, Death could not control the scorching panic that coursed through him as he grappled with a singular thought.
Zagreus was missing.
