The bus rolled to a stop in front of the weathered wooden sign that read Camp Maple, its tires crunching against the gravel road. For a second, nobody moved. The five of them sat packed together in the back row, sticky from the June heat and running almost entirely on gas station snacks and excitement. Beyond the trees came the distant sound of shouting, a whistle blowing somewhere near the lake, and the sharp smell of pine drifting through the open windows. Then Lucas grinned, grabbed his duffel bag, and said, “Well. No turning back now.”

Summary
“What are you so sad for ?” She asked, the question sounding meaner now that she said it. She gripped the strap of her backpack a little harder, pursing her lips as she barely met his eyes. Not once in her life was she hesitant to do that. She was always fighting head-on, staring into people’s soul.
“Who said I was sad ? I’m just tired.” He retorted. She threw her bag next to him, to which he didn’t react, and sat next to him.
“It’s a nice place.” She said, picking at her nails.
“It’s quiet.” He said, ending their conversation. Max hummed, bringing her knees against her chest. Minutes passed by, clock ticking above their heads as they watched the leaves forming waves, following the rhythm of the wind. Max didn’t dislike it, she didn’t. But Mike’s silence, as good as it was, was also worrying.
“What are you thinking about ?” She asked, not sparing him a look, and she knew he wasn’t looking at her either. She felt him move, adjusting himself against the wall, and let out a sigh.
“It sucks.”

Summary
Mike came from a lineage of gunslingers (assassins), chosen by the Archangel Gabriel himself. At the age of five, he was trained by his mother’s twin sister, Noctis Childress. By ten, he gained his powers, by twelve, he lost them. This might change the story or not at all.
(This is a rewrite of Season 5 Vol. 2 to provide a backstory explaining why Mike started acting like he’d undergone a lobotomy—because, in this version, he actually did. Kind of?)

Summary
He took a step forward, his eyes scanning the shop for the source of the heavenly scent. His tail caught the edge of a tall wooden stand displaying dozens of small potted lavender plants.
Crash!
The stand wobbled precariously for a moment before tipping over completely. Terracotta pots shattered on the polished wooden floor, spilling dark soil and lavender sprigs everywhere. The sound was deafening in the quiet shop.
"Shit!" Mike yelped, his ears flattening against his head with pure mortification. He dropped to his knees immediately, trying to gather the broken pieces, his tail still going a mile a minute, now knocking over a nearby watering can. "I'm so sorry! I'll clean that up."
"That's... quite alright." The voice was soft, a little hesitant, but it sent a shiver down his spine.
Mike looked up.
And the world stopped.
