Summary
Melisandre, the death-defying priestess, travels from Asshai to the land of Westeros on a mission: rescuing Eddard Stark and informing him of his Destiny, to fight the Soul of Darkness in the eternal struggle of life and death as the God of Light's champion Azor Ahai.
Ned Stark tries to piece together the kingdom his best friend Robert has left behind, with himself declared publicly as traitor. He knows he must bend the knee to Stannis, but he also begins to question himself when the Red Priestess shows him visions in the flames, that make his worst fears come true:
The Night King is real, and is marching on the living with an army of the undead. An army that only Azor Ahai can stop. And Ned Stark knows he is no legendary hero like Melisandre says, only...he can't let it happen, he can't just sit and watch.
