Summary
Hudson and Connor are best friends. Both are in committed relationships with other people, and they’re about to begin filming the second season of Heated Rivalry.
But a couple’s bracelet—seemingly harmless—becomes the breaking point that exposes buried tensions, jealousy, and poorly defined boundaries. Between arguments and mistakes that hurt more than either of them expects, they’re forced to face a truth they’ve been avoiding for far too long: what they feel no longer fits within the word “friendship.”
“But I know,” François continued, his voice a tone deeper than usual, “that if I grab that fucking phone right now, I’ll find missed calls, typed and deleted messages, Facetime attempts… all directed at Hudson.”
Connor clenched his jaw.
“That’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?” François looked at him with a mix of sadness and exhaustion. “Because I did worry about you. I did think about calling you. I did lie awake with the phone in my hand.”
The silence became unbearable.
“And yet,” he added, “you didn’t call me.”

Summary
This story has lived in my mind since writing The Quiet Fight and Built to Break—where love made everything simple, and choosing each other was never in question. This time, they aren’t there yet. This time, they want to be everything to each other… but they don’t know how. So yes... I am making the poor guy sick again.
Shane and Ilya have spent seven years orbiting each other—stolen nights, quiet routines, and just enough distance to protect their careers… and maybe their hearts. They have never asked for more, never defined what they are, and never stayed long enough to find out.
When Ilya gets sick, the carefully constructed balance between them begins to fracture. What should be simple—showing up, staying, choosing each other—becomes complicated by everything they’ve avoided saying for years. Ilya can’t seem to let his walls down long enough to let Shane in, and Shane doesn’t know how to ask for a place in a life he’s never been invited into.
As they struggle to navigate what they are to each other, they are forced to confront the possibility that the thing they’ve spent years protecting might not survive long enough for them to finally understand it.

And it happened. Hudson was in LA, and he was not staying at Connor’s apartment. He knew this would eventually happen, but did not expect it like this. He was not prepared, especially when Hudson had come to LA alone.

Summary
Shane sat on the edge of the lounger, his eyes fixed on Ilya’s hands as he rolled. He was in total awe. Watching Ilya was like watching a master craftsman; there was a fluid sort of grace to the way his large, scarred fingers manipulated the delicate paper. The hands that spent all winter punching pucks and shoving opponents were suddenly performing a task that required the precision of a watchmaker.
He licked the adhesive strip with a quick swipe of his tongue and sealed it, twisting the end into a neat point.
“Fuck” Shane nearly moaned.
Ilya chuckled. “We have not even started moy kotenok. Be patient.”
Ilya grabbed the lighter from the table and lit the end, the cherry glowing a bright, steady orange. He took a small, controlled puff to ensure it was burning evenly, then turned to Shane. “Okay. Do not pull like you are gasping for air. Just a soft breath. Into the mouth, then take a little fresh air with it to the lungs. Then, hold it for a second before breathing out.”
Or: After figuring out some patterns and doing research, Shane smokes weed for the first time and thoroughly enjoys himself.
