Summary
Rex has never questioned the nature of his existence. When he meets Cut Lawquane he learns more about that existence than he would have liked. The Republic is not what he thought it was and as his mind begins to clear he wonders if the Jedi are any better. Without the drugs he’d unknowingly been ingesting as part of the standard clone stims, he starts to see everything in a new light. He sees Ahsoka in a new light. Things tumble out of control from there.

Kix stares their newest batch of shiny-fresh medics in the face and steels himself to break their hearts. No matter how many times he gives this speech, it never gets any easier.
“Not a single one of you is prepared for this. You’ve been trained, sure," he tells them, "But you’re not meant to be doctors. None of us are. We’re meant to be damage control.” A breath. A beat as it sinks in. Young faces, not quite sharp yet with age, drooping in confusion, frustration, resignation.
And then, Kix smiles. "But we'll fix that."
